Dear Patriot,

School Board District 5 Candidates USAAF Colonel (ret) Richard Tatem, Chantal Wilford and current Manatee County School Board Chairman Dr. James Golden join us for a discussion at the next Manatee Patriots meeting Tuesday, July 19 at Mixon Farms. This is a great opportunity to hear their beliefs and views on the issues facing District 5.

Attendees were captivated last Tuesday evening as Jim Pesnichak presented his report on the ERIC system. While many folks were familiar with the system, many were surprised to learn its left wing origins iincluding corruption of the PEW Trusts and the radical backgrounds of the original principals of the enterprise.

Jim's presentation has been posted to the "Downloads" page of our website, which may be accessed by clicking here.  To see a video of last Tuesday's meeting in its entirety, just click here.

A piece of Liberty in your back pocket....

Manatee Patriots endeavors to keep you informed and inspired about the issues facing this great nation. But like any enterprise, we need to raise funds to help pay for the costs of bringing you weekly meetings with informative speakers, semi-weekly newsletters, a webite and social media channel. That five dollar bill is worth more than it appears. It is an investment in your Liberty! So please give generously every week.

It's Election Time!

You may have noticed that there is a lot of content related to Election Integrity in our newsletters lately. This is a deliberate effort on our part. With the Primary Election just over a month away and VBM ballots going today(!), we want to make sure that all members are equipped to make the most of their vote. We do hope you appreciate the extra coverage of this critical election season.

Read on to be informed about important events and simple actions you can take to make a difference.

James T. Golden

James T. Golden is a native Floridian who has been a leader in the Manatee County community for the past 25 years. He has been a Manatee County Public Schools substitute teacher across all grade levels and chairman of the School Advisory Council at Louise R. Johnson Middle School.

Born in Jacksonville and raised in Daytona Beach, he learned the values of hard work, service, and leadership from his parents and considerable extended family. His father, Rev. James C. Golden, Jr., was a pastor and public school teacher. His mother, Vivian, was a high school guidance counselor.

After completing the 10th grade, James T. Golden was accepted as an early entrant to Fisk University in Nashville, Tenn. He volunteered in 1967 to serve in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1969.

Following his military service, James T. Golden received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Stetson University in 1970. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 1974 from the University of Florida's Frederic G. Levin College of Law. James T. Golden has been a practicing attorney since he was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1975. After answering his call to ministry in 1981, he began attending the Turner Theological Seminary at Atlanta University where he received his Master of Divinity degree in 1984.

Between 1993 and 2014, James T. Golden served our community as pastor of Ward Temple A.M.E. Church in Bradenton. However, desiring to serve more than just his congregation, he also served two terms on the Bradenton City Council after being elected in 1999 and reelected in 2003. While there, he led the way in establishing the Central Community Redevelopment Area that created more than $50 million in funding for central Bradenton’s capital needs. Additionally, he led efforts to annex local industries like Tropicana and Mixon Fruit Farms into the city to broaden the tax base and increase revenue without raising taxes. James T. Golden served as the city’s Fire Commissioner, Chaplain, and the city’s representative on the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council.

James T. Golden has served on a number of charitable and non-profit boards, including Manatee Glens Mental Health Hospital (now Centerstone), Meals on Wheels, and Just for Girls. He now serves as pastor of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Port Tampa.

He is married to Mildred Moten-Golden, the owner of two small businesses in Bradenton. They have six children and twelve grandchildren, all of whom attended or are attending Manatee County Public Schools.

My Education

After graduating from public high school in the US, I spent seven years living in Europe either as a college student or teacher. I studied pedagogy for two years in the Netherlands, then earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Honours degree in French, Russian, and Linguistics from the University of Durham in England. I subsequently earned a certificate to Teach English as a Foreign Language to Adults (TEFLA) in France where I taught for two years at businesses and a university in and around Paris before I returned to the US for a year of post-graduate training as a translator and interpreter at the Monterey Institute of International Studies in California.

My Work

After grad school, I translated mainly legal, academic and medical/pharmaceutical texts from Dutch & French into English from 1997 to about 2020. In the fall of 2005, the year we moved to Manatee County, I became certified as a childbirth educator and birth doula and have provided birth preparation classes and labor support services to hundreds of families in Manatee and Sarasota counties. I loved having the flexibility to balance translation work from home for clients around the world with birth doula services for women and their families right here in my community.

My Family

I met my husband, Andrew, in my final year of university studies in England as he was completing his Post-Graduate Certificate of Education in Mathematics. We have four children who were all home educated until 5th grade, which means we spent 14 consecutive years homeschooling one or more children in Manatee County. All of our children transitioned to Manatee County public schools for fifth grade, then went on to middle and high schools, all in District 5.

We have always been actively involved in our children’s education, whether through home school or public school. Andrew was even honored as an outstanding volunteer by the district in 2015 for leading a coding club at a middle school. We have had one or more children in Manatee County public schools for 10 years and have 7 years left to go. We currently have one child in elementary school, two in high school and one at the University of Florida.

My Volunteer Work

Over the years, my community volunteer work has included raising puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind, visiting a hospital weekly with a certified “dogtor” to cheer patients, serving on an HOA Board, volunteering at All Faiths Food Bank, fostering for Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue, and serving as a leader of our local Sarasota chapter of the Holistic Moms Network from its inception in 2005 to its closure in 2015 to help parents learn from local experts about conscious parenting, green living and holistic health.

Election Integrity Network - Innovations in North Carolina

This Election Integrity Network is a project of the Conservative Partnership Institute.  Lead by Cleta Mitchell, this organization seeks to improve the integrity of elections across America.  As part of their substantial training and guidance on Election Issues, they produce a weekly video which covers various topics relating to Election Integrity.  In this week's episode, Cleta interviews Jim Womack and the efforts being pursued in North Carolina.  Jim outlines a number of interesting insights and solutions.  But he details a very interesting approach to automating and consolidating the findings of Poll Watchers in real time in a system referred to as the Statewide Election Integrity Reporting System (SEIRS).  You can view the full video by clicking on the button below.  You can find the discussion of the SEIRS system around 15:49.
